WORDLESS WEDNESDAY

Welcome to Miami!

Hear that song??? I think I heard it like 4 million times while we were there......

Great mini vacation to South Beach.....just the old man and I. Kaelan happily stayed home and devoured her Aunt Sara. The minute we returned home, she told us we could go ahead and leave for another vacation.....I guess it would be worse if she cried for us....right?

Doug testing the water.

Doug taking in the sea.

Sandra in her reading on the beach attire.

There were plenty of frozen drinks for Sandra.....and Diet Coke for Doug. We had a fabulous time on our GoCar tour. Basically, you head off down Ocean Dr. (and wherever else you want to go), in a little go-cart/moped type thing. There is a GPS built into the car, so you are guided the whole way. You can stop wherever you please and never get lost.....we looked so friggin' cool next to all the Lamborghini's and Porsche's in South Beach....fierce!

Doug's crew got the big prize.....later, we celebrated and drank Sprite out of it. :)

One evening, we had dinner at the most gorgeous turn of the century mansions. This place was fully restored and amazing......we are considering a purchase for a summer home....ha. I can't even fathom the price....it was valued at 22 million in 1914!

Doug gets in touch with nature in the garden.

Sandra soaks in the healing fountains.
How could you strut up those stairs and not due the Paris Hilton pose?

Doug....never to be outdone.

We had a great time....we came home ready for another vacation. Doug jumped right back on a plane and headed to Chicago and as soon as he returns, we are off to Phoenix for the bro's wedding.....ah.....I need one of those fruity drinks.

Me Make Funny

Confucius say:
"Wise man always check comment box when reading this blog."

APRIL FOOL'S, PEOPLE!!!!!
Sorry for the heart spasms and fainting spells resulting in the last blog......(especially to poor Doug).
In response to a few nasty emails and Facebook postings I got:
No, that was not my hand holding a test.....I just googled "hand holding positive pregnancy test"....don't you just love google?
No, I am not cruel and heartless.
Yes, I will tell you when it really happens....and I won't trick you again!
Now, go on and use that picture and go freak some more people out!

Surprise!!!!

Game on......

Well, we are back on to head to FL. The family of the gentleman who passed away has personally campaigned to ensure Doug does not miss this trip. There will be a memorial (cremation) later in the week. Doug's emotions have been so mixed, but after convincing from Carrol's son, he agreed to go. Pray for his family......and then go hug on your own.

A Better Paradise

So....it looks like our extended weekend at a South Beach spa/resort is off. Deep breath.......and I am at peace with that.
Sadly, one of Doug's crew died in a car accident this weekend. Very sad. You know how Rudy Giuliani attended nearly all the funerals of 9/11 firefighters and city workers? Very honorable....well, I'm married to that kind of guy. He can't see going and enjoying sunny beaches and deep tissue massages while a man he respected is being buried and eulogized. And that is why I am married to him.
So, my palm trees and fruity drinks can wait......a mighty fine man went to his own paradise this weekend. One that beats Florida beaches hands down. One I hope to visit someday, myself.

Exposing the child to culture......

While driving to preschool this morning......

Kaelan: Do you have your iPod in the car, because I want to hear that song daddy plays. You know the one about Tom Bell Rolls?
Mom: Well, I do have my iPod, but I don't think I know a song about Tom Bell Rolls. How does it go?

Kaelan: (waving the universal three rock and roll fingers in the air) Tooommmmm Belll Rolls.....time marches on!
Mom: (realizing the tune sounds vaguely familiar) Let me check my music menu and see if dad's music is on here......(oh, brother, you are kidding me). Did you mean this song?

Cue in Metallica's "For Whom the Bell Tolls"

Kaelan: Yeah, Yeah.....that's it! (Rock-n-Roll face and hard core headbanging kick in)

Nice one, Dad.
