Well....the time and occasion finally arrived, and her wish came true.
It wasn't until I started researching the place to make arrangements, that I realized 4P is not your average family putt putt pit stop. For one, the place has remained in virtually the same state of architecture for over 30 years. I mean THE SAME for over 30 years. Secondly, the nostalgia of the joint is what brings people, primarily college age people in and keeps the place afloat.
That's all cool with me....sounds very "Austinish".
But perhaps the most interesting fact, was finding out 4P is BYOB!!! That's right! You can load up a cooler and drag it along as you navigate your way through 18 holes of wavy, bumpy, curvy courses!
I didn't tell Kaelan and Darian about the BYOB, and after much deliberation on whether or not this was the best place to take small children, I agreed to go through with fulfilling Kaelan's sticker chart wish.
I pretended to take a picture of Kaelan and Doug so I could get one of the dude checking us in...arm guard and leopard print head-band all in the name of style....I will also mention he and his buds were jamming on the bongo drums when we arrived....yep, very "Austinish".
The characters were crazy looking things that kind-of resembled popular creatures from books and shows. Here, the kids pose with "Clifford The Big Red Dog".....or "Red Poodle With The Creepy Long Neck", as I called him.
This is how I think the place looks for most of the "golfers" there.....you know, BYOB!
So....if you are looking for a great place to drink, fall down, have fun and with PLENTY of holes to puke in, this is your place!
I kid.....we had fun, the kids had a blast, and when she fills her next behavior chart, we are off to putt the other 18 holes!
4P= *** out of ****

That's just awesome! Gotta say, I think whoever designed/created the characters must have had a cooler-full themselves. They're kinda scary lookin' if you ask me. Glad you all had fun though :)
ha! the last time i went to 4P was for a drunken putt putt fest with my friends (many years ago, now). i think it'd be a great place to take toddlers who are not aware that the "big kids" around them might be a little altered (while the toddler's parents have fun making fun of the "big kids"). i didn't even really pay attention to the statues last time...i bet those are fun to look at from a toddler's perspective :-)
