We spent some time at White Sands while visiting the Land of Enchantment. I must say it is just as majestic as I remembered it to be. I spent a great deal of my childhood rolling around and sliding on these great dunes. I love telling people about that and hearing them question the sanity of that.
"There's no water there?"
Not a drop.
"But what do you do with all that sand?"
Why you just go there. And if you grew up there. You get it. Enough said.
There was storm brewing in the mountains off in the distance and we had the most wonderful view watching come all the way across the desert to meet us. It was gorgeous and scary all in the same breath.

Riding the dunes.
Just 'being' at White Sands.
Grandma and Kaelan build a sand castle that never really looked like a castle....or any sort of structure, really.
I have to tell you that I have some of the funniest video ever of my mama sledding down a dune. I know you want to see. I want to show it to you so badly, but I made a promise to my dear mother that I would NOT upload it to any kind of YouTuber or anything.
Her words...."YouTuber".
So sorry, America. For now we will pull a Disney and place that video in The Vault. But who's to say that video will not resurface on the Interweb in oh, say 5-10 years?
As consolation, I will leave you with this:

Yay White Sands! Ben and I went camping there and during the night I swore there was a murderer after us... I went crazy all night hearing noises, that sounded like footsteps walking around our tent, picturing our red blood staining the white sand. Anyhow, nice place, huh? Love playing on the dunes :).
I grew up near some sand dunes. Nothing as grand as White Sands, mind you, but I get just going to the sand...sledding... lying down and watching shooting stars. Love it!
White Sands! Loved going here as a kid. Remember the time you threw up? Just had to remind you of that! Great pictures!
Love,
HE
