Meet Us In St. Louis.

Bless my heart.

I am such a good wife.   Years ago, my sweet husband had a life dream opportunity to go work for his all time favorite team, The Atlanta Braves.   He turned down that dream because he knew living in  Atlanta, GA (again for him) was not something on MY all time dream list, and that it might not be the wisest move for our future children.  Oh, and it also paid virtually nothing for many years until he worked his way up the ladder.   By the way, you can’t feed future kids on nothing.

Anyhow, when he turned down that offer……which really was not as big of a decision as I am making it out to be (he pondered it for about 2 minutes)…..I did give him a big baby talk “Awwww” and kissed his sweet little face and thanked him for making such an selfless  decision and promised him that any time we were within a reasonable distance from  the Braves that we would go watch them.    The few times  they played in Dallas, it was no big deal to jot up from Austin and see them.  Same for Houston.   We even caught them in various places all over the U.S. while vacationing.

St. Louis and Kansas City  are  really not that far from Edmond, but I am starting to rethink the whole “reasonable distance” statement.   Especially since we now have to travel those “reasonable distances” with the future-now present children.

So…..the Braves did come to St. Louis for a series.  We did make the long weekend trip up to see them.   I do love St. Louis.   If you recall, we considered living near there when we were shopping the market for our next adventure.

The Arch is always fun…..

….to look at from down below.   Geez.   That little egg thing they put you in to ride to the top is so NOT cool.   Just take my word for it and stay down below.  I don’t think of myself as a claustrophobic person.

CORRECTION:   I USED to not think of myself as a  claustrophobic person.

The view from the top WAS fabulous…

DSC_0192Seth really enjoyed being that high up and yelling down to “wittle people and wittle boats and wittle ballpark and wittle cars and wittle twucks and wittle everysings” below.

And then we told them they had to climb back in the egg to get down and they were all….

We spent the afternoon venturing around downtown,  enjoying the water, getting parking tickets for parking illegally in a place your wife warned you was probably illegal….what?  Did I type that out loud?

Later, we hit the first game in the series.  The kids have a new obsession with wanting to be super high.  They want the highest floor at the hotels.  They make us ride all elevators to the highest floor.   They fight over riding on dad’s high shoulders.

Now, we usually have decent seats when we go to ballgames.   We paid our dues in the nosebleed section during college, but these HIGH seats we scored for this game made us rock stars, so we didn’t complain.

What a view of the Arch and downtown!

We spent the remainder of the weekend at the pool or ballpark.    We made a pit stop to go underground and visit come cool caverns.

Our friends Ann and Andy have inspired us to make stops to see some of the country’s great roadside attractions.   There are some pretty crazy things out there along America’s highways that we all need to just stop and enjoy.

Like the world’s largest rocking chair.   I mean, come on people.   This stuff is life changing.  Stop and smell the roses for goodness sake.

Great little visit to St. Louis.   We are already planning our return trip!

You can bet we will be stopping to visit this beauty on our way!
